Ugh. Sometime last winter, I agreed to do an interview with a documentary production group about climate solutions. It seemed like a good idea at the time. But now it is coming out, and the featured interviewers are dominated by white guys from Europe and the US. Plus there are a couple of interviewees who have — let’s say dubious — scientific credentials.

This really bothers me, as I should have done more homework on the production company before agreeing to do it. (However, they are legit and I thought they mentioned several women they were going to interview. Plus this was a kind of last minute thing, where I was basically substituting for someone else.)

In any event, this serves as a lesson. Even though I cannot control what a production company does after an interview, I will make a much more deliberate effort to explore their commitment to diversity before agreeing to sit down for a piece.

Lesson learned. Lesson shared.
